The conference report then must go to both houses for approval, prior to moving to the White House for the President's consideration. McNeil in September One-Stop Broadcast Assistant Secretary Patricia W. McNeil joins other high-ranking officials from the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Commerce, Agriculture, HUD, and Social Security for an interactive satellite videoconference on One-Stops next month. The videoconference, Investing in our Workforce: The Potential of One-Stops, airs September 27 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM EDT. Tune in for highlights of outstanding One-Stop centers and an interactive dialogue ranging from structuring partnerships to universal accessibility and continuous improvement. Contact peter_woolfolk@ed.gov IL Taps Dan Miller For Assistant Secretary The State of Illinois selected State Director Dan Miller to serve as Assistant Secretary for the State's Department of Human Services, beginning August 1. Dan shares responsibility for managing all federal and state social service programs in Illinois. He served as State Director of Adult Education for six years and entered the field of adult education as a local program director in 1984. John Klit, a former policy advisor to the Deputy Superintendent, has moved into the Acting State Director slot until the transfer of authority next July to the community college board.
