On this listserv, during the week of February 19-25, Alan Lopatin and Tony
Peyton will be answering your questions and providing information about what
is going on during the 106th Congress with regards to family literacy and
update us on LIFT. On the 19th, they will post a message with a brief
summary and then be ready for your questions/postings. This will be a great
week to learn more about current legislation! I am excited to introduce
these two gentlemen to you all:

Alan G. Lopatin serves as the director of NCFL’s Washington office and is a
principal in the government relations firm Valente, Lake, Lopatin & Schulze
in Washington, DC. For four years, Mr. Lopatin served as General Counsel to
the Committee on Education and Labor of the U.S. House of Representatives,
under the chairmanship of William D. Ford.

Tony Peyton is the policy specialist of NCFL in Louisville, Kentucky and is
responsible for tracking federal and state legislation that pertains to
family literacy, which includes early childhood education, child care,
welfare reform and adult education. Before joining NCFL, Mr. Peyton
conducted issue research for the Kentucky Center for Public Issues in
Frankfort, Kentucky and worked for U.S. Representative Norman Sisisky (VA).
