Changes Underway for Bethany Workout Facilities

Bethany is in the process of adding a new weight room/fitness center on campus in the Cummins Community Center, while the weight room in the Thomas Phillip Johnson Health & Recreation Center will be upgraded with new equipment.

Cherry Blossom Project Taking Root at Bethany College

The Bethany College campus will be receiving some early birthday presents from the Bethany College Japan Outreach on Sunday, Oct. 5. The group will kick off its Sakura 170 Project by planting several Japanese cherry trees in a 2 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony. "Sakura" is a Japanese word that translates as "Cherry Blossom."

Sutherland Receives Bortz Faculty Prize at Bethany College

The Bethany College faculty has chosen Dr. Patrick Sutherland, Professor of Communication and Chair of the Department of Communication, to receive the College's 2008 Bortz Faculty Prize for Innovative Use of Technology in the Classroom.

Thornburgh Gives Fall Convocation Address at Bethany

Former United States Attorney General and Pennsylvania Governor Richard L. "Dick" Thornburgh helped Bethany College mark the start of its 169th year on Thursday by delivering the Fall Convocation address to students, faculty, staff and friends of the College. Thornburgh was also conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Laws by Dr. Scott D. Miller, President of the College, during the ceremony held in Commencement Hall at historic Old Main.

Bethany Welcomes Dr. Peter Morgan as Renner Visiting Scholar

Dr. Peter M. Morgan, one of the foremost authorities on the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in America, is Bethany College's first Renner Visiting Scholar of the 2008-09 academic year. The 1961 Bethany graduate will also serve as interim pastor at Bethany Memorial Church and chaplain of the College.

Former Attorney General Thornburgh to Address Fall Convocation

Richard L. "Dick" Thornburgh, former Attorney General of the United States and Governor of Pennsylvania, will deliver the Fall Convocation address to students, faculty, staff and friends of Bethany College on Thursday, Sept. 11. The Fall Convocation will begin at 11 a.m. in historic Commencement Hall at Old Main. Thornburgh will also be conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Laws by Dr. Scott D. Miller, President of the College.
