The next available date for the Psychological Services Bureau (PSB) Exam will be October 17, 2008. Anyone wishing to take this exam is urged to sign up as soon as possible so that you can take advantage of the remaining test dates that are available before your Competitive Selection deadline. For Registration information, please visit any campus to sign up for the exam and contact the Continuing Education Department @ 770-537-7942 to have your name added to the roster for a scheduled exam.


WALMART.COM Donation to Aid Carroll County GED Students

The West Central Technical College Foundation and Carroll County LIFT were recipients August 18 of grants from Walmart.com of $1,000 each.

LIFT coordinator Laura Miller and WCTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dawn Cook were on hand for a presentation ceremony at the Walmart.com distribution center in Carroll County. Both organizations will use the grants to aid the WCTC Adult Education division as it provides GED preparation and testing to Carroll County adults.

Coweta State Farm Agents Give to WCTC

Coweta County State Farm agents have contributed $2,900 to the West Central Technical College Foundation to benefit College programs offered at the Central Educational Center in Newnan. On hand for the presentation at the CEC were State Farm Agents Tommy Hooks, Phil Aaron and Ronnie Lewis, Foundation trustee Jim Eason, State Farm Agents Ruth Ann Embrey, Trey Rhodes and Donna Brooks, WCTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dawn Cook and CEC CEO Mark Whitlock.

Celebrating Literacy Week: Author Reads To GED Students

Elaine Bailey, a part-time instructor in adult education at West Central Technical College, is also a published author. In celebration of Georgia Literacy Week Sept. 8-12, Bailey read to her class excerpts from three books – Buttermilk Clouds, Patchwork of Poetry and Tracks, a full length novel which she hopes to have published in the summer of 2009.

Technical Colleges Set to Merge

The State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia has authorized the merger of 14 technical colleges—two of which are West Central Technical College and West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange, Ga. The merger/consolidations are being implemented to save maximum faculty and staff positions during these times of extreme budget reductions. There will be few direct impacts of the merger/consolidations on staff and faculty before July 1, 2009.

40th ANNIVERSARY CAR WINNER ‘THANKFUL’

Sheldon Parham of Bremen may have been the name called September 5 to take home the grand prize at West Central Technical College’s 40th Anniversary Celebration in Carrollton, but it’s his wife who’ll be hitting the road in it.

Heidi Parham, already an LPN graduate from West Central, will be graduating from the RN program in June, and Sheldon Parham said she’s the one who will be driving.

“Our family is extremely thankful for the new car we received in the 40th anniversary car giveaway contest,” he said. “We are most appreciative of our new blessing.”

Work Ready Certificates provide individuals with documentation that illustrates their minimum skill levels for Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Work Habits. Employers may use Work Ready Certificates to compare an individual’s skill levels with those of previously profiled jobs that may be customized for specific employers. Each section takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete and may be taken separately.
