In the Spotlight

A Great Place to Start

Nikki Petrazzuolo-Leiva arrived at NOVA in 1999 during a transitional stage in her life. She was looking to balance going to an affordable commuter college with work.

Nikki participated in NOVA's Transfer Program and after a two year period; she successfully advanced to become a student at Georgetown University.

"I had really great professors at NOVA," said Nikki. "They prepared me with competitive knowledge of Economics and Government -- in some ways I had better practical knowledge than most of my Georgetown peers."

She believes NOVA's Transfer Program really works. It gave her a strong foundation, access to a multitude of resources students can use for their desired school or field of study.

In addition, she found NOVA professors to be very helpful and accessible.

Nikki went on to graduate from Georgetown in 2003 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Foreign Service.

She currently works as the executive assistant to the vice president for student affairs at Georgetown and is preparing to begin post-graduate studies.
