I've recently started a program for K-5 families who also have children
younger and older. What I've found is that the general activities work best
when their tailored for all ages. i.e. we break into groups by age for
individual activities and for PACT time the activities are for the entire
family. It's been working well so far!:-)

Madge

Well done on your thinking to include all ages of children in your
family
literacy program. We have found that 12 and 13 year old enjoy time with
their parents as much as 3 and 7 year old do. There is much to learn
from
each other at all ages.

Greetings to the list. I am an English teacher at a small urban charter
=
school in Providence, RI. We are hoping to create a family literacy =
program at our school. I know that family literacy programs are usually
=
targeted to families with children younger than middle and high school =
aged children. We hope to open the program to all of the families of =
children who attend our school. This may mean we'll have quite a range =
in ages of the children participants. I'm interested in learning of =
others out there who have worked with families with children of all =
ages.=20
Thanks for participating in the discussion,
Madge
