[screen grab: example of report cover]

This site provides access to over 70 historical documents relating to various aspects of hurricanes, including planning and response, post-storm assessments, evacuation planning and studies, and general information. These documents have been cataloged by the NOAA Coastal Services Center library and are available in hard copy format through interlibrary loan or digital copy via this Web site.

Site Features

  • General Information reports focus on hurricane and coastal flooding preparedness strategies, building performance, hurricane mitigation, growth management, and evacuation behavior and attitudes, among other topics.
  • Hurricane Evacuation Studies typically include five related analyses focusing on hazards, behavioral, transportation/evacuation, sheltering, and population vulnerability.
  • Measured Storm Effects include an assortment of information on actual hurricane impact data, such as high water marks, storm damage surveys, and inland wind effects.
  • Post Storm Assessments include reports offering summaries of hurricane events, along with general observations and specific recommendations resulting from the analyses.
