Service Academy Nominations
Each year, I am proud to nominate outstanding high school seniors from
our area to the military academies. Students interested in attending
one of the military academies should first talk to a high school guidance
counselor and then contact the academy for further information. In order
to succeed at a U.S. military academy, you must have a clear understanding
of the rigors of the academic and military life at the academy. The decision
must be yours alone, and not imposed upon you by others.
The academy web sites include:
- The
U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY
- The
U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD
- The
U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO
- The
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY
- The
U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT
Once you have contacted the academies and done your preliminary research,
you should write to me at my Long Branch District Office to request information
on the Congressional nominations process and my application forms. It
is best to write to me in the spring or summer of your junior year. The
deadline to return the forms to my office is November 20 of your senior
year.
All candidates applying for a nomination must be citizens of the U.S.
and legal residents of the Sixth Congressional District of New Jersey.
They must be at least 17 years of age and not pass their 22nd birthday
on July 1 of the year of admission to the academy. |
