Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao on April State and Regional Unemployment Numbers

WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao released the following statement on the April regional and state employment data released today:

“The economy is robust, new jobs are growing and the unemployment rate is dropping across the country. This is the 8^th straight month of job gains with over 1.1 million jobs created since last August. Employment over the last year was up in 44 states and the District of Columbia and the unemployment rate declined in all regions and in 47 states.”
