11, 2001.
“Our economy has created 2.7 million new jobs in the last 20 months.
“Now to ensure the creation of even
more jobs, the Congress has to act on the President's proposals to further
strengthen our economy.
“Our country needs energy independence, health insurance access for
small business workers, social security reform, and permanent tax relief
for working families.”
“The unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent, this is the lowest rate since
September 11, 2001. This 5.2 percent unemployment rate is also below
the average unemployment rate of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.”
