Forest Maps

Forest Maps The Gallatin National Forest is covered by two visitor maps which show roads, trails, trail heads, streams, lakes, and major peaks, as well as recreation facilities such as campgrounds, fishing access sites, and picnic areas. The forest visitor maps are 1/2 inch = 1 mile scale and do not show contours or topographic lines.

The East Map covers national forest areas of the Big Timber, Bozeman, Livingston, and Gardiner Ranger Districts, and includes areas around Big Timber, Livingston, Gardiner, and Cooke City and the Absaroka, Bridger, and Crazy mountain ranges. The West Map covers national forest areas of the Bozeman and Hebgen Lake Ranger Districts including the Bridger and Gallatin mountain ranges and national forest lands south to West Yellowstone.

The Gallatin National Forest includes two designated wilderness areas with their own separate maps: the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness and the Lee Metcalf Wilderness. National forest wilderness maps show trails, trailheads, streams, lakes, and major peaks. The maps are 1 inch = 1 mile and show contours or topographic lines and vegetation.
