Description: Online guide to the Library of Congress Geography & Maps Division cartographic collections, which consist of over 4 million maps, 53,000 atlases, 300 globes, and other geographic materials. The Guide highlights a selection of valuable and interesting atlases; describes many of the Division's special collections, including the archives of a selection of 19th and mid-20th century cartographers; outlines the scope of the vast number of single maps and multisheet series in the general collections; describes a sample of globes and terrain models; and mentions the latest advances in cartographic technology with reference to aerial photographs and remote sensory imagery.
