Volunteer Legal Services Luncheon Honors Community Service
Governor Lingle highlighted the important role of service to the community at a luncheon with members of Volunteer Legal Services - Hawai`i.
"Equal justice is at the heart of a strong democracy," the Governor told attendees. "What you do may help one individual; but it creates a better community and a better society."
The Governor congratulated volunteer attorneys, who have provided pro bono legal services, from basic legal advice and counsel to full representation for complex court cases, for Hawai`i's low income residents.
"Your work is not just about helping people in a professional capacity, but perhaps more importantly, in a personal capacity," she said.
