The
FAST Series is divided into four sections. The first
section provides the safety training material on the topic
covered by this FAST Series. The material is presented in
both a written form and on an audio cassette tape located
in the back of the FAST Series binder. The second
section contains handouts which you might find useful
in illustrating some of the points contained in the training
program. Section three
contains a simple exam which can be administered orally or
in writing to employees following the program. The last
section contains sample training logs to document the
training you provide to employees.
First
review the material in the first section. Determine if the subjects
covered in the material relate to your operation and if additional
points should be incorporated into the training program.
Next,
present the material to employees at the time of hire or when
they are given new job assignments for which training has
not previously been received. Additional training is required
when new substances, processes, procedures or equipment are
introduced to the workplace and represent a new hazard or
whenever the employer is made aware of a new or previously
unrecognized hazard.
Following
the presentation of the material in the FAST Series, present
your own subjects that you added to the presentation. At the
conclusion of the training program record the names of the
employees that attended the presentation on the training logs
provided. Make sure you record the date, subject covered and
training provider. Keep the log for at least three years.
