By
now you farmers probably know that farming is one of the most
dangerous jobs in the U.S. But did you know that if you were
injured in a farm accident, your family could also be seriously
affected?
In New
York, 67 percent of the families who operated the farms where
fatal farm accidents occurred in the mid- to late- 1980's
no longer operate their farms and 44 percent no longer even
live there. The accidental deaths due to farming accidents
deprived the surviving families not only of their loved ones,
but their farms and homes as well.
Like
those families, a farm accident could force your family to
loose, move or be forced to sell your farm. Remember that
the next time you take a risk you know you shouldn't. Please
be careful and farm safely... your health, and your family
depend on it. Please join us at the New York Center for Agricultural
Medicine & Health in making safety a priority year round.
