HOUSTON, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DWI)

            (Texarkana, TX)  United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 49 year old Houston, Texas man was sentenced for driving under the influence in the Eastern District of Texas.

 
            RICHARD ANTHONY SOARES was sentenced to 10 days imprisonment for driving while intoxicated, repeat offender, and ordered to complete a two year period of probation, pay a $500.00 fine, and his driving privileges were suspended for two years on special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, including, but not limited to, Red River Army Depot.  Soares had been charged with driving under the influence on the Red River Army Depot, after having previously been convicted of DWI on two occasions in 1986.  Soares was sentenced during an appearance before United States District Judge David Folsom today in Texarkana.

 
            This case was investigated by the law enforcement officers of Red River Army Depot.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Denise Simpson.
