CARROLLTON MAN GUILTY OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

            PLANO, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 39-year-old Carrollton, Texas man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas.

            JAMES H. JAGOU, JR., pleaded guilty yesterday to an Information charging him with possession of visual depictions of minors involved in sexually explicit conduct.  The plea hearing was held before United States Magistrate Judge Don Bush.
 
            According to information presented in court, in 2008, Jagou distributed, received and possessed several video clips and visual depictions of child pornography using his internet account.  Jagou admitted to possessing at least 27 video clips and visual depictions of children involved in sexually explicit conduct which he obtained over the internet.  Many of these images contain victims who have been previously identified by National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and depict prepubescent children portrayed in sadistic or masochistic conduct.

Jagou faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.  A sentencing date has not been set.

            This case is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC).  In February 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.  Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.  For information about Project Safe Childhood, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov/.

            This case is being investigated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Terri L. Hagan.
