LONGVIEW WOMAN SENTENCED IN EAST TEXAS METHAMPHETAMINE RING

(TYLER, TX) United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 31-year-old Longview woman has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

CLARA ARNETTE WHITE pleaded guilty on August 30, 2007 to being involved in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced today to 48 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Leonard E. Davis.

According to information presented in court, an ongoing investigation began in January 2003 into the distribution of methamphetamine in East Texas.  The operation has resulted in numerous undercover purchases and seizures of both drugs and guns.  A federal indictment was returned by the Grand Jury on February 6, 2007 charging 16 individuals, including White, with federal drug crimes.

            This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Gregg County District Attorney's Office, the Longview Police Department, and the Gregg County CODE Unit.  This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
