HOUSTON MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS

(BEAUMONT, TX)   United States Attorney Rebecca Gregory announced today that a 44-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

RICHARD GONZALEZ was found guilty by a jury on March 28, 2008, of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison today by United States District Judge Marcia Crone.

            According to information presented in court, from April 2006 until April 2007, Gonzalez was responsible for distributing approximately 7 pounds of methamphetamine from his business, the Smokin Tat2, in Webster, Texas, for delivery in the Eastern District of Texas.  Gonzalez was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 16, 2007.

            This case was investigated by the Galveston Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Englade.
