FEDERAL GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENTS
IN THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS
TYLER, TX—United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced that a federal grand jury returned indictments late yesterday charging multiple individuals in separate cases of federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
LUCIO RAMIREZ, 34, of Mt. Pleasant, TX was indicted on charges of being in the United States illegally after having been removed in November of 1999. If convicted, he could receive imprisonment of not less than 2 years and a fine of not more than $250,000.
The indictment alleges that on or about July 15, 2008, Lucio Ramirez, an alien, was found in the United States after having been removed on or about November 2, 1999.
This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Alan Jackson is prosecuting the case.
JODY L. WILSON, 50, of Ashdown, Arkansas was indicted on charges of Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property and Theft of Public Property. If convicted, he could receive imprisonment for not more than 10 years and a fine of $250,000.
The indictment alleges that Wilson stole various mechanical-related pieces of government property. He is also alleged to have stolen a gooseneck trailer valued at over $5,000 and transported it from Texas to Arkansas.
This case is being investigated by the Red River Army Depot. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
HAROLD WAYNE LEWIS, 66, of Texarkana, Texas was indicted on charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Adam Walsh Act Violation). If convicted, he could receive imprisonment for not more than 10 years and a fine of $250,000.
On September 9, 2003, Lewis pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Sexual Assault in Miller County, AR. Lewis was notified to register as a sex offender. He traveled in interstate commerce from Arkansas to Texas and failed to register as a sex offender with any local authorities.
This case is being investigated by the U.S. Marshal's Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
BRADLEY WAYNE TAYLOR, 27, of Harleton, Texas was indicted on charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Adam Walsh Act Violation). If convicted, he could receive imprisonment for not more than 10 years and a fine of $250,000.
Taylor had been previously convicted in 1996 of Attempted Indecency with Child Sexual Contact in Galveston, Texas, and convicted again in 1997 of a sexual assault crime in Gilmer, Texas. He traveled in interstate commerce from Texas to Arkansas and failed to satisfy registration requirements.
This case is being investigated by the U.S. Marshal's Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
It is important to note that an indictment should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
