HENDERSON RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CRIMES

            TYLER, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 28-year-old Henderson man has pleaded guilty to drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
 
TAMARIND DEEMON admitted to possession with the intent to distribute at least 1 kilogram of cocaine today before United States Magistrate Judge John D. Love

            According to information presented in court, since approximately August 2007, the defendant had been conspiring to distribute cocaine to others in and around the Eastern District of Texas.  A 2-count federal indictment was returned on June 3, 2008, charging 5 individuals with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base. 

At sentencing, Deemon faces a sentence of up to 40 years imprisonment and a fine up to $2 million.  A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
  
            This case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Henderson Police Department.   This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bill Baldwin.
