DALLAS WOMAN GUILTY OF FEDERAL GUN CRIMES

            TEXARKANA, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 32-year-old Dallas woman has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
 
            DANA D. BROWN admitted to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm today before United States District Judge David Folsom.

            According to information presented in court, Brown was a methamphetamine user who unlawfully possessed a firearm.  Brown was stopped by a Department of Public Safety trooper in Titus County for a traffic violation.  During the stop, a pistol and drugs were located in the vehicle.  Brown was indicted on federal firearms charges on September 11, 2007. 

            Brown faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set at this time.

            This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
