ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED FOR
REENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES AFTER BEING PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED

(Beaumont, TX)  United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 43 year old illegal alien has been sentenced for reentry into the United States in the Eastern District of Texas, after he had previously been deported.

ANGEL AVILEZ-FAJARDO, a/k/a MOISES HUERTA who had admitted to reentering the United States after he was previously ordered deported, was sentenced to 79 months, to be followed by a three year period of supervised release, during an appearance before United States District Judge Thad Heartfield today.

According to information presented in Court, officials at the Jefferson County Jail reported that an individual in their custody, identified as Moises Huerta, was suspected of being an illegal alien.  Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents interviewed Huerta, and were able to confirm through ICE records and databases that Huerta was actually Angel Avilez-Fajardo, a citizen of Mexico, who had previously been deported from the United States following a conviction for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine in the Southern District of Texas.

This case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall Fluke.
