HIDALGO COUNTY RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CRIMES

            TYLER, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a Hidalgo County man has pleaded guilty to drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
 
HOMERO ZAMBRANO ARTEAGA, age 29, of Mission, Texas, admitted to being involved in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of at least 200 grams but less than 300 grams of cocaine, during an appearance today before United States Magistrate Judge John D. Love. 

            According to information presented in court, an investigation began in May of 2007 into the distribution of cocaine in East Texas by Arteaga and a co-defendant.   

At sentencing, Arteaga faces a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine up to $1 million.  A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
  
            This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Longview Police Department and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.  This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
