The Cactus Family includes plants well-adapted to extreme environments. Not only do they tolerate drought and heat better than most plants, but their spiny, ungainly shapes do not suggest they produce some of nature's most beautiful and delicate flowers.

Did You Know?
Lake Amistad is a binational reservoir shared by the U.S. and Mexico. The international boundary is marked with bouys up the middle of the Rio Grande channel. The word Amistad is Spanish for the "friendship" between the two countries.
