To Practice Psychology In Oregon |
|
Limited Permits to practice psychology in Oregon are available to licensed psychologists from other jurisdictions for time specific periods. The Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners may grant permits for up to 180 calendar days and expire no later than 6 months after the date the permit is granted. OAR 858-010-0055 is the administrative rule regarding Limited Permits.
There are two types of permits:
-
The Visitors Permit is for out-of-state psychologists that do not intend to seek full licensure in Oregon, but are providing service in Oregon and then will return to their home state.
-
The Temporary Permit is for psychologists who hold licenses in another state. Temporary permit holders must also apply for licensure through the standard process.
The intent of a Limited Permit is not to avoid licensure or to allow individuals to practice psychology in the State of Oregon prior to meeting the requirements for licensure.
NOTE: Carefully review Oregon abuse reporting laws, as Oregon laws are different from most other jurisdictions.
If you are interested in obtaining a limited permit you must:
1) Submit the “Application for a Limited Permit to Practice Psychology in the State of Oregon.”
2) Submit proof of licensure in good standing from your home jurisdiction.
3) Pay the limited permit fee of $100.00.
4) Submit a notarized statement certifying that you have read and understand Oregon laws relating to the practice of psychology.
5) For the Visitor’s Permit: include a specific description of the work to be performed, including the location of the activity, the specific dates of the activity, and with whom you will work and/or with whom you will perform the activity.
