Public Health and community programs

Public Health - Seattle & King County works with community partners to help children with asthma get the health care and resources they need to live healthy lives. Public Health also works with community partners to improve home and indoor living conditions and outdoor air quality so children with asthma have fewer problems with their asthma.

  • Asthma Outreach Project (AOP)
    Odessa Brown Children's Clinic
    Comprehensive case management for children with asthma provided by a doctor and an Asthma Outreach Coordinator.

  • Child Care Health Program
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    For childcare providers in King County. Public Health Nurses provide:
    • Identification of children who may have asthma
    • Education and referrals for parents and childcare providers
    • Asthma awareness training for staff
    • Consultation on managing asthma in a childcare setting through velopment of classroom health plans

  • Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN)
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    CSHCN provides:
    • linkage and coordination of services to all children with special needs
    • limited direct medical services, equipment and supplies to those families that meet financial and other program eligibility requirements

  • Healthy Homes II Asthma Project
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    A demonstration project to reduce exposure to indoor asthma triggers among 260 low-income households for children with asthma.

  • King County Asthma Forum
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    KCAF brings together individuals and agencies to establish an on-going asthma network to communicate about, collaborate on, and coordinate projects that improve and support asthma prevention, diagnosis, and management in King County.
  • King County Health Action Plan (KCHAP)
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    KCHAP implements innovative collaborative policy development and pilot projects that focus on system change and improvement of worsening health trends affecting vulnerable populations within King County.

  • Youth Health Services
    Public Health - Seattle & King County
    Youth Health Services promotes the health and learning readiness of children, youth, and young adults in King County by supporting health promotion efforts and assuring access to high-quality, coordinated health and preventive services.
