Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to:

  • Get more help with your Medicare questions.

  • Order quality and other information on Medicare health plans.

  • Listen to recorded questions and answers on topics such as Medicare health plan choices.

  • Order Medicare publications. (Some are available in large print, Spanish, audio-tape, and Braille.)

Important Notes About 1-800-MEDICARE

You can hear a recording with answers to frequently asked questions, and can order publications 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can talk with a customer service representative 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

If you are hearing impaired or speech impaired, call the TTY/TDD line toll-free at 1-877-486-2048.

  • This number is for the hearing and speech impaired.

  • TTY (also known as TeleTypewriter) is a terminal used for two-way text conversation over a telephone line. It is the primary tool used by deaf people (and some hard of hearing people) for telephone conversation.

  • TDD (also known as Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) is a smaller unit used for two-way text conversation.

If you want Medicare to give your personal health information to someone other than you, you need to let Medicare know in writing. You can fill out the "1-800 Medicare Authorization to Disclose Personal Health Information" form. Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to get a copy of the form, or you can download the form in the Medicare Online Forms section of this web site.
