The Laconia Fishery Resources Office provides technical assistance in aquatic resource and fishery management to federal and state agencies and non-government organizations throughout central New England. Plans are implemented for a variety of programs, evaluations, and assessments by acquiring and utilizing state-of-the-art resources and knowledge. Management initiatives promote the conservation and restoration of migratory and interjurisdictional fishery resources, with emphasis placed on the Merrimack River Anadromous Fish Restoration Program.

The success of these initiatives is dependent upon professional cooperative management actions with state and federal agencies, and public and private organizations with an interest in fishery resources and water-related development projects. The office is involved with numerous associations and organizations that promote public outreach, environmental education, and habitat protection and restoration in central New England.
