HIV Testing and Counseling in TB Clinical
Settings Tools
Providing HIV testing and
counseling to TB patients can identify persons
with HIV infection in order to link them to
life-saving therapy. CDC and WHO have developed
tools that reinforce standardized operating
procedures for providing HIV testing and
counseling in TB clinics to help countries plan
and implement their programs. The materials
provide guidance for advance planning related to
national policies, logistics, and implementation
procedures, as well as training for health care
providers on how to incorporate testing into
their practice and how to counsel patients about
their HIV test results.
