Beginning in 2006, Washington Office Interpretive Services designated CDI to provide coordination of national visitor center exhibits in accordance with FSM-2390. This includes project support, review of Draft Exhibit and Facility Proposals, and coordination with the WO. This proposal is intended to provide a conceptual picture of a proposed visitor center, large scale exhibit, or other complex and costly ventures. It is used to secure the necessary levels of approval and funding to move forward with more detailed planning and design work.

An Exhibit Approval Flow Chart is being developed to assist forests in the planning and development of visitor center exhibits.
