GOVERNOR'S INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE "INSPIRES TODAY, FOR TOMORROW"

September 25 - Governor Lingle hosted the fourth annual International Women's Leadership Conference, Inspiring Today, For Tomorrow, this week, bringing together more than 900 women leaders from Hawai`i, across the country and around the world.  In addition, inmates from the Women's Community Correctional Center, a young woman from the Hawai`i Youth Correctional Facility and a woman who is residing at the state's Paiolu Kaia`ulu homeless shelter participated in the conference and heard words of encouragement as they work to turn their lives around.

Conference attendees heard the inspirational stories of 10 internationally-renowned women speakers who are leaders in the fields of business and marketing, media, filmmaking, health care, government, international relations and community service.

The Governor encouraged delegates to follow the examples set by the speakers and to set goals and follow their dreams, despite the challenges along the way.

"Your situation - how you grew up and what you have faced in life - should not be an excuse," she said.  "It can be a reason, and it should be a motivation, for you to succeed and to gain happiness.
