GOVERNOR CONGRATULATES GRADUATES OF WELFARE-TO-WORK PROGRAM

April 4 - "Congratulations for doing something big, something special, and something important that will raise the standard of living for you and your families," Governor Lingle told graduates of NorthStar Alliance's Supporting Employment Empowerment (SEE) welfare-to-work program. Launched in February 2005 by the Department of Human Services (DHS), SEE helps businesses meet their growing labor demands and provides work opportunities for individuals on government assistance. NorthStar worked with DHS to develop a SEE program, and has graduated 80 students since its inception. Statewide, the SEE program has helped more than 548 individuals on government assistance find employment in private sector companies.
