GOVERNOR APPOINTS INTERIM DIRECTOR OF DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

May 21 - Governor Lingle appointed Clayton A. Frank, warden and administrator for the Halawa Correctional Facility, to serve as interim director of the Department of Public Safety.  He will oversee the state’s Corrections Division, which includes state prisons and community correctional facilities, as well as the Law Enforcement Division, including the Narcotics, Protective Services and Sheriffs Divisions.

“Clayton’s long and extensive career in the department makes him well suited to serve as director,” said Governor Lingle.  “He understands the needs and challenges of the department, having worked in supervisory and managerial positions, including warden of three correctional facilities, and deputy director of the law enforcement division.  Clayton is well known and respected in the department and I am confident he has the experience and leadership qualities to do an excellent job as the new director.”

Frank has worked for the Department of Public Safety for almost 26 years.  During his tenure, he has served as warden and administrator for Halawa Correctional Facility, O‘ahu Community Correctional Facility, as well as acting warden and administrator for the Waiawa Correctional Facility.
