GOVERNOR ATTENDS KEIKI BIRTHDAY PARTY AT PAI`OLU KAIAULU TRANSITIONAL SHELTER
April 28 - Governor Lingle
celebrated the birthdays of 11 children born in March and April at the first
birthday party program at Pai‘olu Kaiāulu Shelter - the State's newest
emergency transitional shelter in Wai‘anae. Children at the party
participated in arts and crafts including making jewelry out of candy, bunny
rabbit creations and making mother’s day love coupons, and musical
chairs. The shelter opened on March 1 as part of the Lingle-Aiona
Administration’s efforts to work with the community and other partners to
find solutions to the homeless problem in Hawai‘i. Pai‘olu Kaiāulu currently
serves more than 160 people, including over 50 children, who were previously
living on beaches or in parks along O‘ahu’s Leeward Coast.
