GOVERNOR KICKS-OFF UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I CENTENNIAL CAMPAIGN, RELEASES $85 MILLION FOR UNIVERSITY PROJECTS

August 18 - At a dinner to celebrate the 100th anniversary of public higher education in Hawai`i and kick-off the University of Hawai`i's (UH) Centennial Campaign, Governor Lingle released $85,000,000 for a new UH West O‘ahu Campus, as well as for repairs and maintenance at 10 UH campuses statewide.

"Education is the best investment any of us can make in the future of Hawai`i and the world," the Governor said as she released the funding.


Governor Lingle also emphasized the importance of public and private collaboration and cooperation to achieve the goal of the University of Hawai‘i becoming one of the best public universities in the nation.

The UH Centennial Campaign seeks to enhance academic excellence, strengthen undergraduate education, fulfill research missions, improve campus facilities, and engage the community for support.
