GOVERNOR WELCOMES STUDENTS TO NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS

July 10 - Governor Lingle welcomed 65 teams of students, teachers and others from across the U.S., Japan and Poland to the 6th Annual National Conference on Educational Robotics.

"You're the future and will change our world someday," the Governor told participants as she encouraged them to continue exploring innovative solutions to everyday challenges.

The conference is organized by the KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) Institute for Practical Robotics, a national non-profit organization dedicated to engaging the public in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through hands-on robotics programs.  The conference brought together who are interested in using robotics in education.

Increasing STEM skills among Hawai‘i students is a key component of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s Hawai‘i Innovation Initiative, which seeks to develop the innovation capacity of Hawai‘i residents and provide the education and training they need to compete successfully in the global economy.
