CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF STAR OF HONOLULU CRUISES

July 11 - "People tend to apply innovation only to emerging industries, including science and technology," Governor Lingle said at a celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Star of Honolulu Cruises, "but it is about new ideas," she added.  "The Star of Honolulu is a great example of adapting and innovating, and it has worked to create and sustain our state's economy day in and day out."  The Governor also discussed her recent trip to Japan and shared experiences from roundtable discussions in Tokyo with leaders in the travel industry.

This year, Star of Honolulu Cruises is celebrating its 50th anniversary on O`ahu and Maui.  The company started out as a Pearl Harbor cruise operator in 1957, and has expanded its business to include Stars of Paradise Tours & Attractions, Royal Star Hawai`i Motorcoach Tours and Destination Services, and Paradise Kitchen.
