GOVERNOR TESTIFIES IN SUPPORT OF INNOVATION IN EDUCATION

March 13 - Governor Lingle testified this week before the Senate Committees on Economic Development and Taxation and Education in support of HB 1268 (Relating to Innovation in Education).  Measures contained within the bill would help strengthen STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills among Hawai`i's students and prepare them to contribute in significant ways to a sustainable economy based on innovation.  The bill is one of four legislative components of the Administration's Hawai`i Innovation Initiative, which is designed to raise the standard of living for everyone in Hawai`i while decreasing an over-reliance on land development as the foundation of the state's economy.
