GOVERNOR DEDICATES STEM FACILITY AT KAP`IOLANI COMMUNITY COLLEGE

March 9 - You are the future of our state," Governor Lingle told students at a dedication for Kapi`olani Community College's (KCC) new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Center.  A key component of the Governor's Hawai`i Innovation Initiative, STEM skills provide students with skills and knowledge to think in a more analytical and critical fashion and can be applied to a broad range of occupations.  KCC's STEM program seeks to enhance the quality of science, technology, engineering and mathematics instructional and outreach programs to increase the number of STEM students transferring to four-year degree programs and to prepare students for careers in STEM fields. The STEM Center will offer peer mentoring services, tutoring, computer support, and educational resources for STEM students
