GOVERNOR HONORS UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I WARRIORS FOOTBALL TEAM

December 2 - Governor Lingle honored the nation's only undefeated college football team, the University of Hawai`i Warriors, at the Na Koa Football Club's annual Alec Waterhouse Memorial Football Awards Banquet.

The Governor congratulated the players, coaches and staff for a successful season and thanked them for representing the State of Hawai`i with distinction on a national level.

"We're proud of you, not just for your undefeated season, but for the way you did it," Governor Lingle said. "You brought class and sportsmanship to every game and made Hawai`i residents from every walk of life so proud of your achievements."

On January 1, the Governor will cheer on the Warriors from the Superdome as they play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In honor of the Warriors' outstanding season, the best in the University of Hawai`i's long and proud history, the Governor and Lt. Governor have proclaimed 2007 as the Year of Warriors Football
