GOVERNOR SHARES LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES WITH NEIGHBOR ISLAND CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND KONA ROTARY CLUB

January 25 - The Governor delivered keynote remarks at a joint meeting of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce and Kona Rotary Club and to a meeting of the Maui Chamber of Commerce.  In her remarks at each meeting, Governor Lingle outlined her Administration's top priorities for the 2007 legislative session, the centerpiece of which is the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative.  The Governor described this initiative as a "dynamic process which links together our people, our knowledge and our many assets to transform ideas, insights, and inventions into new processes, products and services that are desired worldwide."  Governor Lingle also discussed proposals relating to tax relief, education, changing medical malpractice laws, affordable housing, land use policies, the environment, increasing Hawai`i's competitiveness in the global economy, protecting our citizens, and upgrading highways, harbors and airports.
