Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) is a national USDA-Forest Service program designed to determine the status, changes, and trends in indicators of forest condition on an annual basis. The FHM program uses data from ground plots and surveys, aerial surveys, and other biotic and abiotic data sources and develops analytical approaches to address forest health issues that affect the sustainability of forest ecosystems. The FHM West Coast Region is one of 5 national FHM mega-regions, organized parallel to the Forest Inventory & Analysis (FIA) data regions and working directly with state partners. This structure provides leadership and representation on the FHM Management Team, national FHM projects, analysis & reporting, local Evaluation Monitoring project funding, and responses to emerging forest health issues.
