Turning Challenges into Opportunities - 2007 Kentucky Small, Limited Resource, Minority Conference

A partnership of Kentucky's Agriculture and Conservation agencies held the Kentucky Small and Limited Resource Farmers Conference November 13-15.

 

The conference is organized to serve as an outreach to those individuals who normally do not have contact with Federal, State and local agencies or programs. Approximately 186 individuals were registered at this years’ event.

Mike Hubbs addresses audience during banquet

Mike Hubbs, State Conservationist was the keynote speaker at the Wednesday evening banquet.  Mr. Hubbs presented and discussed a number of slides on soil quality and the benefits of crop residue in the different cropping sequences.

The Annual Small Farmer Award was presented to Walter Andrews of Todd County.  This year marked the 8th consecutive year an award was presented by the Kentucky Chapter of the National Organization of Professional Black NRCS Employees.
