GOVERNOR’S MOLOKA`I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS JUNE 14 MEETING TO FOCUS ON CARGO SERVICE

HONOLULU – The Governor’s Moloka`i Council of Advisors will meet on Wednesday, June 14, 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Pau`ole Center in Kaunakakai.  The public is invited to attend. 

Barry Fukunaga, deputy director – harbors, Department of Transportation, will speak on improvements at state harbors relating to interisland cargo and cruiseship service.

From Young Brothers, Glenn Hong, president and chief executive officer; Vic Angoco, vice president and general manager; and Roy Catalani, vice president strategic planning and government affairs, will discuss the company’s plans to continue less-than-container load cargo or non-containerized cargo service to Moloka`i, in light of their application to discontinue similar services at Kahului, Maui.

Governor Linda Lingle created councils of advisors to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Moloka`i Council of Advisors holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, public priorities, and recommendations for boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor’s Moloka`i Council of Advisors are Robert Granger, Sue Ann Hasegawa, Janice Kalanihuia, Jersula Manaba, Marlene Purdy and Charlotte Seales.
