Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will speak to students of the National Defense University at 10 a.m. EDT, Sept. 29, as part of the university’s Distinguished Lecture Program. During his remarks, the secretary will discuss the 2008 National Defense Strategy. Journalists may cover the secretary’s remarks and the question and answer session, but will not be allowed to ask questions. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus to the Pentagon today at 1 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.
