The American College of Radiology (ACR) was founded in 1924 to advance the science of radiology, educate the general public and represent the interests of radiologists. Both diagnostic and therapeutic radiology are represented. The ACR is involved in continuing education, monitoring of legislation, radiation protection, public education, professional training, management and practice standards, and exchanges of information among professionals. Services include publications, meetings, educational accreditation, seminars, professional placement, and management consultation.
The American College of Radiology (ACR) publishes lay and professional pamphlets on radiology, professional education series, radiology practice and management guides, conference proceedings, scientific books, and scientific films. Patient education pamphlets cover such topics as nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, ultrasound, nuclear magnetic resonance, and CAT scanning. Some patient films are listed in its catalog. Serial publication: ACR Bulletin (magazine), monthly--news on ACR events, course offerings, and legislative developments. There is a charge for some publications.
