THE SERVICE:

    The Clerk can present your unsigned order to the Ex Parte Department for you when you choose not to present it in person.

This service is only available if it is the type of order that can be presented to the Ex Parte Department under the King County Local Rules AND if no notice need be provided to any other party. If notice is required, the attorney for the moving party must appear in person for the hearing in the Ex Parte Department.

WHAT TO SEND:

  • Cover letter.
  • Original order(s).
  • All supporting document(s) necessary for the court to decide the issue. The court file will not necessarily be pulled; You must provide copies of any documents, such as Affidavits or Service, referenced in the proposed order or necessary for the court's review.
  • Return copy- when you want the Clerk to conform and return a copy to you. We will conform 1 copy of an original document and return it only to the person who is the sender.
  • Self-addressed, stamped envelope - when you want the Clerk to return your receipt/copies(s). Provide an envelope of sufficient size with enough postage for your items.
  • Check or money order for payment of services. We can only accept your personal check if it is drawn on a Washington State Bank.

FEES: $30.00

  • You may submit up to 5 orders in a single case, in one submission.
  • Fees for additional related services such as certified copies, Letters Testamentary, and Form K must be paid along with the Clerk's presentation fee.

    Certified copy: $5.00 for the 1st page plus $1.00 for each additional page, per copy.

    Letters Testamentary: $2.00 each

    Form K: $2.00 each

REMEMBER:

    Identify clearly on your original document as "Original," working copies of previously filed documents as "Working Copies," and any copy to be conformed as "Return Copy."

    If your order is rejected, the deficiency will be noted by the Court in a Minute Order. We will return a copy of the Minute Order along with your submitted papers. The $30.00 Clerk's presentation fee is charged again if you resubmit your papers. If your order is denied, the Clerk will return a copy of the denial order to you.

    If the Court is to complete any blanks in your order, you must either advise the Clerk to be sure to conform this information or you must purchase a certified copy of the order. Complete the hearing date in any orders directing the appearance of a party.

    We present orders to the Ex Parte Department only. Questions on how to present Orders to be signed by an Individual Calendar Judge should be directed to the Bailiff for each courtroom.

 

 

Fax Filing

For Filing in the King County Superior Court of the State of Washington (per GR 17).

    This service is ONLY for documents to be filed in the court file -- FEE REQUIRED.

    No Proposed Orders or Working Copies are accepted through this service.

    Please refer to General Rule 17 in the Washington Court Rules before faxing any documents. USE A SEPARATE COVER SHEET FOR EACH DOCUMENT TO BE FILED.

Fax filing is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Documents received after 4:30 on a business day will be date stamped for the following business day.

FAX FEE: Pay your fax fee by sending a check (drawn on a Washington State bank only) or money order immediately for your "fax fee," which is $3.00 for the first page of each document and $1.00 for each additional page per document - No charge for the cover sheet. Payment by credit card is not available.

FILING FEES: Documents requiring filing fees may not be faxed; these include, but are not limited to, original petitions or complaints, jury demands, writs, notices of appeal, and petitions to modify child support.

DOCUMENT IDENTIFICATION: Note "Sent on (date) via fax for filing in King County Superior Court" on the first page, bottom margin, of each document. Also note where the original document is located. You are required to keep the original document you have filed by fax until at least 60 days following case disposition.
