June 2, 2006 - Pride in Public Service

Hawai`i recently observed Pride in Public Service Month.  But I want to extend my appreciation for the valuable work our public servants do year-round.

As someone who has been in public service for more than 25 years, I have seen first hand the dedication and commitment government employees put forth every day to keep our state, counties and nation moving forward.
It is clear, the professionalism demonstrated by our public employees is second to none.

They labor each day to protect Hawai`i’s natural resources, teach our children, fix highways, keep neighborhoods safe, pick up the trash, promote economic development, respond to emergencies, process tax returns and find innovative solutions to help the homeless.

I appreciate the important contributions public servants make to our state, and their continuing efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of government services.
Mahalo to all who make Hawai`i a better place to live, work and play.

This is Governor Linda Lingle.
