"While the University of Hawai`i is always a source of pride for our state, this season of Warrior football has been a particularly exciting time for all of us.

As the only undefeated Division One A team in the country, the Warriors claimed the University's first outright WAC Championship.  Throughout the season, every member of the team, coaching staff and managers conducted themselves in a professional and sportsman-like manner. Their actions brought positive national attention to the University and to our state.

Most importantly, the student-athletes competing on the gridiron have brought unity to the residents of Hawai`i.  They have given us renewed hope that goals can be reached with focus, perseverance, collaboration, hard work and dedication.

I hope you will join me as we cheer on our Hawai`i Warriors as they compete against the University of Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl on January first.  Go Warriors!"
